Enable two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection to your account. After you sign in with your email and password, you’ll confirm it’s really you by entering a one-time code from an authenticator app.

Before you start

  • Install a trusted authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy) on your mobile device.

Set up 2FA

  1. In Cryptio, click the person icon in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  2. Select Activate two-factor authentication.

  3. When the QR code appears, open your authenticator app.

  4. In the app, add a new account and scan the QR code.

    – If you can’t scan the QR, choose Enter a setup key and type the secret key shown in Cryptio.

  5. The app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter the code in Cryptio to verify.

  6. Save your backup codes somewhere safe in case you lose access to your device.

  7. You’re all set. Next time you log in, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app after your password.

Manage or recover 2FA

  • New phone? Add Cryptio to your authenticator app on the new device using the QR code or secret key from Settings. If you can’t access your old device, use a backup code to sign in, then re-set up 2FA.

  • Turn off 2FA: Go to SettingsTwo-factor authentication and choose Disable (you’ll be asked to confirm with a code).

  • Can’t get a code? Check your device time is set to automatic, try again with a fresh code, or use a backup code. Remember, codes refresh every 30 seconds, so be sure to enter the latest one.
