Cryptio's Spam Cleaner

Cryptio is committed to providing a seamless and secure user experience in the evolving crypto landscape. As part of this commitment, we have advanced machine learning-driven spam detection to combat the growing issue of NFT and token spam.

What Are Spam and Scams?

Spam refers to unwanted or malicious NFTs and ERC-20 tokens that appear in your wallets. They can cause confusion, clutter reports, or even contain harmful links.

Learn more about fungible and non-fungible token spam in our blog.

Why Is Spam Detection Important?

NFTs and ERC-20 tokens are increasingly targeted by spammers. Common issues include:

  • Rising spam activity – Low-quality NFTs and liquidity pool tokens are flooding wallets.

  • User confusion – Unknown tokens frustrate and distract users.

  • Malicious content – Some spam tokens include links to dangerous external sites.

  • Rapid spread – Spam assets proliferate quickly on networks with low fees (Polygon, Solana).

How Spam Detection Works in Cryptio

Cryptio uses a proprietary machine learning algorithm to flag and manage potential spam. Detection happens at three levels:

Automatic Spam Flagging (Asset level)

Potential spam is flagged in the Assets module.

  1. Go to Assets > Overview > Potential Spam Reviews.

  2. Review flagged assets individually or in bulk.

  3. Mark or unmark assets as spam.

    • Marked spam assets are labeled Spam and set to a value of 0, so they don’t affect balances.

💡 Notes:

  • If you mark an asset as spam, it is removed from the potential spam list at the workspace level.

  • Once flagged, an asset’s value is set to 0 for its entire history (not only new transactions).

  • Older workspaces may have historical spam with non-zero valuations. Users can update these retroactively if needed.

Default Filtering (Transaction level)

Spam tokens can be hidden from your transaction list.

  1. Go to Transactions.

  2. Open Filters.

  3. Toggle on Filter out Spam.

This hides spam-labeled transactions, giving you a cleaner workspace view.

Dashboard and Module Filtering

  • Dashboard & NFT Module: Spam is filtered out by default.

  • Audit Readiness Module (Enterprise only):

    1. Go to Data Integrity.

    2. Under Prices/Balances Sanity Check, enable Exclude spams from the app.

The Potential Spam Report

The Potential Spam Report provides an audit trail of all spam actions, including:

  • Mark/unmark actions

  • Price changes to 0 (to avoid affecting balances or gains/losses)

We recommend reviewing spam before every month-end close. Enterprise users should also complete the Potential Spam Review in the Controls Checklist.

How to generate the report:

  1. Go to Assets > Potential Spam Reviews.

  2. Select Potential Spam Reviews Report.

  3. Open Reports from the side navigation bar.

  4. Download the report.

What If Some Spam Is Not Detected?

Most spam is automatically flagged, but if some slips through:

  • Update wallets – Refresh to ensure spam labels are applied.

  • Contact support – Our team can assist if tokens are still not being flagged.
